Dubai’s two-day streetwear festival returns on November 19, bringing together a spectrum of creatives and brands as the event continues to transition from what was once purely sneaker focused to now hosting key music, basketball, streetwear, and art figures. Founded in 2010, the event has grown substantially each year, in turn inspiring and encouraging growth within the fashion sector in the middle East, doing all it can to put that part of the world on the global fashion map.

To mark this years event, Sole DXB have teamed up with PUMA to create a special rendition of the PUMA Clyde. The shoe named ‘PUMA x SOLE Swag’ comes dressed in tanned ostrich leather, with gold tip laces and gold foil logo detailing, recognising Dubai’s rich history and love of gold.

To mark the collaboration, Sole photographer Farel Bisotto headed to New York City, the birth place of hip-hop, b-boy culture and of course the birthplace of the PUMA Clyde marking it’s place in streetwear history in the 1980s. Bisotto tracked down and teamed up with the WAFFLE Crew, an NYC based collective founded in 2011. The images below show the shoes being worn in similar styles to those who rocked Clyde’s two decades ago. The future of these dance crews is currently under threat as the authorities see them as a public nuisance, with the current New York Police Commissioner trying his best to stop them all least from the city’s underground anyway.

The sneakers will be available in limited numbers at the PUMA Courtyard space at SOLE DXB and also Early Retirement concept store.
